As a result our services will be changing for all patients. Please let us know here whether you want to participate in the programme or not. You will also find more information about the changes there.
20.12.2017: During the holiday season our services will be limited as follows:
13.12.2017: On 14th December our opening hours will be limited as follows:
25.10.2017: Dr. Graichmanová is not seeing patients in the period from 23rd October to 10th November 2017, because she is preparing for further professional examinations.
During this period another of our doctors can see you if required.
Thank you for your understanding.
17.10.2017: ON WEDNESDAY 18TH OCTOBER THE PRACTICE WILL BE CLOSED
We apologize to all our patients, but since we share our colleagues' grave concerns about the fate of private practice in this country, we will be joining the closure of such clinics on Wednesday, October 18th in protest.
The situation of our own practice is also far from straightforward. In case of acute need please use the outpatient clinics of the Central Military Hospital (Ústřední vojenská nemocnice) or the hospital Pod Petřínem.
In case of life-threatening conditions, please call an ambulance.
13.10.2017: We would like to inform you about the option to get vaccinated against flu for the season 2017/18, the vaccines are already available in our practice.
The basic flu vaccine is free of charge for the patients over 65 years of age and patients with selected diseases. However, we highly recommend you a new quadrivalent vaccine (additional payment is 100 CZK).
The price for other patients who do not belong to the above stated categories is 300 CZK for the basic vaccine, 400 CZK for the quadrivalent variant.
Do not hesitate to make an appointment for application of the vaccine, we highly recommend to arrange your appointment by phone so that you can be told about the benefits of the quadrivalent vaccine. The goal is to inquire which vaccine you prefer and make sure that your preferred vaccine is available on the day of your appointment.
From 1.3.2017 we are improving our services for registered patients, who now have preference over non-registered patients in the times reserved for patients who need to see a doctor immediately with acute clinical need (8-9.30am). Furthermore only registered patients will be able to make appointments. At the same time (from 3.3.2017) we have also been forced by increased demand for our services to introduce a waiting list for registration - for more information please click here.
1.1.2017: We welcome Dr. Michaela Michálková Veselá to our medical team.
30.12.2016: Our congratulations to Dr. Nový on passing his final qualification as a general practitioner! From the new year he will be leaving us to work here.
23.12.2016: During the holiday season there is very little change to our ordinary hours:
12.9.2016: Our congratulations to Dr. Hana Dümlerová (née Škodová) on getting married! She now leaves us to complete her final preparations to qualify fully as a general practitioner, after which she will be working in Brno. We wish her all the best!
4.9.2016: We congratulate Dr. Konfrštová on getting married and are pleased to announce her new name - Dr. Dana Graichmanová!
22.4.2016: The e-prescription service is fully operational again!
11.4.2016: Our best wishes to Dr. Olga Šimovičová, who is leaving to run her own practice outside Prague.
1.4.2016: The relevant state institution has brought the e-prescription service back into operation but using a new electronic address. We are now waiting for an update to our medical software and currently expect to be able to issue e-prescriptions again from around 20th April.
24.9.2015: This month we have reached a significant milestone - more than half our registered patients now use our online booking system!
23.6.2015: We welcome Dr. Kristina Tůmová to our medical team.
16.3.2015: We are forced by rising costs to charge 30 CZK for each appointment from 1st May onwards made using our online appointment system OASYS, payable when you come to the practice for the appointment. For the same reason we are also introducing (with immediate effect) a charge of 30 CZK for responding to a request for an e-prescription. These charges are for additional, optional services provided over and above our contractual obligations under Czech public health insurance and should not be confused with the mandatory 30 CZK charges that were abolished from the start of 2015. We have also updated our price list for fee-paying patients and for other services not covered by public health insurance.
19.1.2015: We welcome Dr. Olga Šimovičová to our medical team.
4.12.2014: Over Christmas and New Year our services will be limited as follows:
- Monday 22nd December - we will be open to 4pm

- Wednesday 24th-Friday 26th December - public holidays (we will be closed)
- Monday 29th December - we will be open to 4pm
- Tuesday 30th December - we will be open to 3pm (as usual)
- Wednesday 31st December (New Year's Eve) - no telephone consultations or afternoon appointments
- Thursday 1 January - public holiday (we will be closed)
- Friday 2nd January - as usual
1.10.2014: Our best wishes to Dr. Jana Prchalová, who is leaving to work outside Prague for the company MEDICA SEVER, s.r.o.
1.8.2014: We congratulate Dr. Stádníková on getting married and are pleased to announce her new name - Dr. Lucie Nečesánková!
29.4.2014: Our congratulations to Dr. Stádníková on passing her final qualification as a general practitioner!
1.4.2014: Are you a non-Czech in employment? If so, please read this important notice concerning sick leave fom 1 January 2015.
20.3.2014: New appointments policy. Please note that from 1st April 2014 we will be applying a new policy in relation to late cancellation of appointments, late arrivals and "no shows", which we have been forced to adopt as a result of abuse of appointments by a small minority of patients. Click here for more details.
12.3.2014: Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. We are vaccinating against viral inflammation of the brain and membrane around the brain, which is transmitted by ticks. Because of the warm weather this year ticks are active earlier than usual. The incidence of infected ticks and the disease itself in increasing every year - vaccination is the only protection against the disease.
The vaccine is not covered by public health insurance, though insurers often provide some contribution towards it. Our price per vaccination is 700 CZK incl. application (for registered patients, for others it is 800 CZK incl. application).
You can make an appointment to be innoculated directly from our website.
9.2.2014: After two weeks of full operation of our online appointment system OASYS, we have 50 new patients, who set up accounts with us using OASYS and around 160 existing patients who have signed up to use the system. All told they made around 150 appointments. We sent more than 500 text messages to users of the system. At present around 25% of all future appointments are via OASYS.
26.1.2014: As of this week our free online appointment system "OASYS" goes into full operation for all our existing patients as well as anyone wishing to use our services for the first time! A big thanks to all those who volunteered to help us with testing it.
12.12.2013: Please note that until the end of January, when we expect the situation to improve, you may have to wait up to one month to register with us. This is the result of heavy demand for our services during the winter season.
12.12.2013: Our opening hours during the festive period will be modified as follows:
- Friday 13th December - no telephone consultations (normally between 1 and 2pm)
- Monday 23rd December - we will be open until 4pm (for patients with no appointment, only between the hours of 8 and 9:30am)
- Monday 30th December - we will be open until 4pm (for patients with no appointment, only between the hours of 8 and 9:30am)
- Tuesday 31st December - we will be open until noon (for patients with no appointment, only between the hours of 8 and 9:30am)
- Book appointments online
- Change and cancel appointments online - regardless of whether they were created online or not
- Get offers of sooner appointments, if you wish (you click on a link or reply to a text message if you wish to take up the offer)
- Get reminders for appointments by text (and email, if you wish)
- Cancel your appointment at the last minute by responding to the reminder
- Get reminders when you are due for a preventive checkup or for a booster vaccination
- Manage your personal details (address, phone number etc.) online
At present trial operation is available only for our registered patients but following roll-out of the full system in January, anyone will be able to use it (e.g. to register with us and set up the initial checkup).
7.11.2013: Our congratulations to Dr. Prchalová on passing her final qualification as a general practitioner!
1.7.2013: Sometimes we need to contact our patients by telephone. Until now the cost of calling mobile phones has prevented us from calling except in urgent cases. With the advent of unlimited mobile tariffs in the Czech Republic we are now able to call unconstrained by cost. So from July, when we call, you will normally see "Private number" or similar, not the number of the surgery. This is because we wish to keep the personal mobile phone numbers of our staff confidential.
25.6.2013: We are honoured to have been chosen (as one of just two clinics) to represent general practice in the Czech Republic on the occasion of the 20th World Conference on Family Medicine, which is taking place in Prague this week. In place of the Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), who was unfortunately taken ill, we were pleased to welcome Dr. Hernan Montenegro, Health Systems Advisor at WHO, together with Prof. Richard Roberts, MD, the President of the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA), the Director of the Country Office of WHO in the Czech Republic Dr. Alena Šteflovou and a representative from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic Ms. Lenka Stránská.
In addition, we have today also welcomed to our practice the following doctors from around the world, in order to present how we provide care for our patients in the context of the Czech healthcare system:
- Dr. Rob Dijkstra, President of the Dutch College of General Practitioners
- Dr. Raman Kumar, President of the Academy of Family Physicians of India
- Dr. Holger Theobald, Associate Professor, Centre for Family Medicine, Stockholm, Sweden
- Dr. Pavlo Kolesnyk, Department of Therapy and Family Medicine, Uzhgorod National University, Ukraine
- Dr. M. Satyajit, Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Rangarajan Memorial Hospital, Chennai, India
10.6.2013: It is possible that you may find patients who seem to be "jumping the queue" during the time reserved for acute patients (8-9.30am every weekday). This is because we now sometimes have three doctors working in parallel, meaning that one doctor sees patients who are booked (during the time reserved for acute patients). It also means that, as an acute patient, you can only choose between the two doctors who are seeing acute patients; the other doctor is available only to patients with a prior appointment.
10.6.2013: Dr. Jana Prchalová joins our team. Dr. Prchalová brings particular expertise in travel medicine, with experience of comprehensive consultations on health risks and how to combat them for travellers visiting countries around the globe.
1.6.2013: Until November of this year, Dr. Stádníková is seeing patients only on Thursdays from 2-7pm. The rest of her time is spent completing the professional placements that she requires before fully qualifying as a general practitioner (i.e. able to work without supervision) in the second quarter of 2014.
17.5.2013: We now offer our registered patients the option of receiving repeat prescriptions by email, free of charge. All you have to do is to fill in the form here. Once your request has been assessed by one of our doctors we will normally send you an e-prescription the following working day.
1.4.2013: Until now we have worked without anything resembling a break for lunch. This was not good either for staff or for patients! From the start of April our new opening hours are from 8-12 every (working) weekday and every afternoon except Friday - for full details please click here. The times allocated for telephone consultations (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-2pm) are not affected by this change.
7.1.2013: Our congratulations to Dr. Hirnerová on passing her final qualification as a general practitioner with distinction! We wish her well at her new clinic. She is now working at Italská 560/37, Praha 2.
7.1.2013: We are recuiting a new general practitioner - more information (in Czech only) is available here.
8.10.2012: Dr. Lucie Stádníková joins our team and will be completing with us her professional formation before fully qualifying as a general practitioner. Besides Czech she speaks fluent English and Italian. You may also meet a new nurse working part-time in the surgery, Mgr. Eva Vicherová.
2.10.2012: We are now vaccinating against flu! Most patients will have to pay for this (see our price list) but those with Czech public health insurance above the age of 65 or suffering from certain medical conditions are eligible for vaccination free of charge.
2.10.2012: Clarification for English-language medical students at Charles University. We would like to reaffirm that the price charged for the medical check-up required by the faculty (medical history, physical examination, urine test, interpretation of laboratory tests and of x-ray) is 750 CZK, as agreed with LF1 MEDSOC in June of this year. A charge of 250 CZK represents our standard minimum contact charge for any purely administrative services (up to ten minutes of doctor's time), such as confirmation of an effective level of antibodies based on test results from elsewhere. It does not cover the cost of the check-up itself (medical history, physical examination), where this is required. Some students have recently been charged different (lower) prices due to an administrative error on our side and we apologise for any confusion that this may have caused. Please also note that we do not provide appoval (for the purposes of the faculty's requirements) of reports from medical check-ups carried out elsewherw, and in this sense the information on the MEDSOC webpage is not entirely accurate.
9.7.2012: We now offer rapid tests for HIV and HCV (the viruses responsible for AIDS and hepatitis C respectively). Both tests give a reliable result within 15-20 minutes so you don't have to wait a week and more for the results of laboratory analysis. The test is non-invasive, painless, safe and fast (it is based on a simple oral swab). The prices for these tests are 590 CZK for HIV and 630 for HCV (they are not covered by Czech public health insurance). For more information from the test provider please click here.
2.3.2012: We have a new telephone exchange! Whilst we still aim for a nurse to answer your call in person within 40 seconds, if this is not possible, you can now either wait on the line or leave us a voicemail message (as well as being able to leave us messages outside of working hours). We return all calls (to numbers in the Czech Republic). The system speaks English as well as Czech, of course.
2.1.2012: Dr. Dana Konfrštová is joining our team. Dr. Konfrštová is an experienced general physician (internist) and joins us from Motol Hospital, where she deputised for her consultant in his absence. From 1st February she replaces Dr. Tomáš Jedlička, who is moving to Brno and will be working at the address Běloruská 2, Brno, in a general practice that he will take over in the spring of 2012. Dr. Jedlička has a strong following among our patients and is an excellent doctor, but we are confident that Dr. Konfrštová is a more than adequate replacement. We are no longer recruiting for another general practitioner.
22.10.2011: Please accept our apologies if you were unable to reach us by telephone in the second half of last week. We had some technical problems (associated with moving to a new public internet adress for the VOIP service that we use). These have now been resolved and service restored to normal.
19.9.2011: We are now vaccinating against flu! Most patients will have to pay for this (see our price list) but those with Czech public health insurance above the age of 65 or suffering from certain medical conditions are eligible for vaccination free of charge.
29.8.2011: We are recruiting a general practitioner, ideally initially part time moving to full time during the course of 2012. For more details (in Czech only) click here.
22.7.2011: Today we have discovered that one third of our patients are not Czech. The largest group is from the USA, then the UK, with Slovakia in third place. And then from 63 other countries - so we have patients from one third of all the states on the globe!
13.12.2010: The times set aside for telephone consultations have moved to 1-2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
5.11.2010: We now have the systems in place to provide care to holders of European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC)!
29.9.2010: Our online registration system saves you time by providing your basic contact data etc. in advance. The English language version is now operational!
13.9.2010: Czech language version of online registration system operational.
1.9.2010: Surgery opened!
